COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A motorcyclist was killed in Oakland County when an SUV turned in front of him and caused a crash, police said.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Sleeth Road and Marcello Drive in Commerce Township.

Police said a 57-year-old Saginaw man was driving a 2017 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 motorcycle west on Sleeth Road when a 2024 Ford Edge heading east turned left toward Marcello Drive.

The SUV and motorcycle collided. Paramedics and firefighters rushed the motorcyclist to a hearby hospital, but he died from his injuries.

Officials said the 60-year-old Farmington Hills woman driving the Edge was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, police said.

Oakland County deputies continue to investigate.
